B Shafer "Retiredtelecom" (WNC):My 6 1/2-year old Toshiba 63" HD DLP which had been sick on and off for the better part of a year and finally "gave up the ghost" this past Tuesday evening so Wednesday morning I began searching for the best value for a new TV.

Since I knew the Toshiba, which was a great TV for the better part of 5 ½ years, was going South, I had been looking for the best value in a new TV for the better part of 7 or 8 months. I was willing to scale down the size of the new TV to as small as a 46" if the price was right and finally make a decision to buy an LCD TV no smaller than 50" and at least 46" LED if the price was right.

About 2 months ago I found the TCL LE46FHDE5300 listed at Best Buy for $549.00 which I thought was a great buy for a 46" LED TV however, there were no customer reviews and, at the time, they showed a six week delivery time. I had never heard of TCL so, after a quick search, I found that Amazon also carried the brand with the same price as Best Buy but Amazon showed that they would ship it in 1 business day. I then did a search on the company and learned TCL was a muli-billion dollar firm that had a large presence in Europe and Asia and made private label TVs for several brand names in the U.S. so I felt comfortable with the company and the product.

 D. Siegel "DMS_NY" (New York, NY) :The razor thin body on this TV seems even thinner in reality than in the photos, it's basically all display with a tiny bezel. The glass base is a nice modern touch, the TV actually improved the design of my bedroom. Picture quality is fantastic even from close distances - got it just in time to watch the NHL Playoffs in 720p and was beyond satisfied (hockey pucks often disappear on lesser TVs). I was hesitant to buy from an unfamiliar brand but this was a great decision, probably one of the best deals out there. This is definitely a 5 star HDTV for a crazy price. Classic hidden gem on Amazon! I'd definitely buy from TCL again, especially at a price like this.

m m smits (Eastern NY):I was very excited to get this TV. I did my research on the TV itself as well as the brand, and felt comfortable with both. UPS showed up today with a clean, unopened, undamaged box. I took down my old (Olevia 32") TV, routed the cables, put on the plate for the wall mount, and connected the power. It's a beautiful TV. Very thin bezel, small logo, simple red LED around the on switch indicating power is connected.

Until I turned it on. There is a crack on the -inside- of the LCD screen, from top right to bottom left. Since the packaging was intact and there was no visible damage to the -exterior- of the TV, I can only assume the damage occurred during manufacturing. Obviously, TCL does not check their products for quality or this would have stood out like Red Riding Hood at a Metallica concert. I'll upload a picture to show you.

Like a fool I just ordered a replacement, so now I have to wait yet another two days for my TV to get here (even though this one just left the warehouse late yesterday). I'll post an update when I get it and hook it up, and if that one is okay, I'll update my rating. But until then, I'm afraid I can't rate it higher than 1 star.

papaphilya:In case you didnt do your research and is skeptical about buying this TV, it is a chinese manufacturer, that uses SAMSUNG screens in their TVs. The reason they are so cheap, is because they have a really good screen and no super duper features. If you need something to display movies and such, this is perfect.
-If you are going to use this TV as a monitor, BUY IT!, People are not aware that if they try to buy a 120hz tv, it will be useless with their computer, as computers output at 60hz. In fact, a 120hz is actually lagging with a PC. Personally, if you ask me, watching a movie with 120hz just looks weird. It is only useful if watching sports. This TV gives the best movie experience.
-I fixed the lame sound quality by purchasing logitech LS21 speakers 2.1. I gotta say, that it sounds absolutely amazing. Unless you are one of those weirdos that listens specifically to get some crazy ass sound, get those speakers and plug em in. Problem solved. No need to spend $$$$ on a home theater system.

Tomboy:The screen does not have anti-glare treatment so room lights are annoyingly visible while watching TV.
- Off axis viewing is not good. There is obvious color and contrast shift when viewing the screen off center.
- Digital audio output uses S/PDIF coaxial cable connection. This might necessitate purchasing a converter if you require TOSLINK fiber-optic or analog lineout connections.
- Digital audio settings are provided for Dolby, PCM, or off. This should accommodate most home theater or stereo systems.
- Poor sound quality using the internal TV speakers, equalization adjustment has little effect on the sound.
- There are no analog audio outputs other than headphones.
- TV dissipates very little heat, uses LED backlighting.
- When installed into a cabinet the edge of the screen could be obscured by the cabinet depending on cabinet size. The screen sits back 3 inches from the front edge of the TV stand.
- Easy to setup and use, light weight.
- Low price when compared to other brands.
- Two year warranty is longer than most assuming service is available when needed.

SeBo "seb6000" (IND, USA):I ordered it late Friday afternoon and not including the Monday holiday I received the item on Tuesday (so 2-3 business days). The UPS delivered item was not damaged in any way, nor were its internal contents (as I read in some reviews for TCL Tvs).

My HDTV is the TCL 39" (3300) model which sold for $329 compared to $418 for the 43" TCL model. I didn't think a couple more inches were worth so much more in cost. I do need to say that Amazon was selling the TCL 42" model for $369, (but they ran out of stock just before I ordered, so maybe that sale will return, it's the best deal).

My previous HDTV was a 32" RCA (720p with 5000:1 contrast) that I got at Walmart for $899 five years ago, but it died so I wanted a cheap replacement and this one was the one I chose. The setup on the TCL tv was easy, just put the bottom glass stand on with 4 screws, connect a couple cables and turn on the TV. It goes through a quick channel scan and that's it. The picture is quite an upgrade from my previous RCA HDTV, plus its a much larger screen size. My old RCA had problems getter all the local broadcast (free to air) HD channels, but this thing is picking up all of them from as far away as 90 miles WOW!

The sound quality to me seems NORMAL for a TV of this price. My TCL model doesn't sound thin or tinnie, nor does the TCL volume go extremely loud. But there are 2 audio output options, to resource the sound out to other locations by using either the headphone jack, or the SPDIF connections (SPDIF is a type of digital audio interconnect cable)(S/PDIF: check it on Wiki for more info). So if you want high quality digital output, you have to use these 2 options.

skaughtz : These TCL televisions are cheap, but don't seem to be of poor quality. The television itself is sleek and thin and other than the location of the control buttons on the TV itself (they are arranged behind the front bezel on the right side), everything else is laid out well. This TV comes with a two year warranty and unless I'm mistaken, they use Samsung screens.

- Out of the box, the picture is clear and crisp. Colors are bright and blacks are dark. I noticed a little bit of a red tinge to the skin of some people, but with a little tweaking that went away easily. In fact, it was so mundane and the factory settings were so good that I had to force myself to change it. The brightness of the TV seems to have quite a range, but it wasn't difficult to find the right lighting for the room I have it in.

- I was worried when I purchased this that it only had a 60Hz refresh rate, but the other positive aspects outweighed this one concern (40", 1080p, LED, $300, etc...). I have watched nearly every sport that ESPN airs on this television, and the only blur that I could notice was immediately after someone struck a tennis ball or punted a soccer ball across the field. Even then, I could only notice it if I was looking for it and really paying attention. I watched the O's game on it last night and I couldn't notice any blur whatsoever. They lost, but looked great doing it.

Mark Dietter (San Diego, California):I did a lot of extensive research before purchasing this TV. I narrowed it down to TCL and VIZIO. I finally decided on this 58" TCL TV because my entertainment center was too small for a 60" and I wanted something bigger than a 55". I liked the reviews I read and the 2-year warranty was better than any other TV I was considering. Also, I was not interested in 3D or a smart TV (I have a network BluRay player) and so did not want to pay for those features. I recommend anyone considering this TV to check the TCL website for authorized service locations since they are not in every city and you might be stuck paying shipping if you need warranty work. Also, be advised that TCL makes two models of 58" TV's. The 3000X model only comes with 2 HDMI inputs and is less a few other minor features and costs about the same as the 3010 series.

I'll say that I first purchased this same TV from Tiger Direct thru Amazon Marketplace. They used a carrier I never heard of (AIT Worldwide) and the TV arrived broken. There was corner of the box which was visibly pushed in and the foam inside the box was cracked. When I turned on the TV, the screen did not work and one could see visual internal cracks. Also, the AIT guys did not offer to help me unpack or check the TV. They just dropped it off and left. I called Tiger Direct and they would only offer a refund, not a replacement. I had the AIT guys pick it up and 2 weeks later I'm still waiting for my refund. My advice, order direct from Amazon and avoid Tiger Direct.

Dan S :I had this TV delivered today and attempted to calibrate it using the Disney WOW Blu-ray that I have used on other TVs in the past. After some adjusting I found the picture to be very good when watching something, but I was disappointed that tint settings were not adjustable. The tint on the picture is slightly off from being natural but unfortunately you cannot change tint. That said I will update this review when TCL calls me back with a solution.

Aside from the tint issue I have no complaints. There is the ability to turn 120hz mode on or off MEMC in the advanced picture settings. This lets you limit the amount of "soap opera effect" that is visible based on your preferences. HIGH has an extremely noticeable effect whereas low is noticeable but helped the flow of sports programming.
